04.10.2010 BC is surprised from the voluntary step of A1TV for complete switch-off of its programming

SKOPJE, 4.10.2010 – The Broadcasting Council is surprised from the behavior of the A1 television for aborting of the broadcast programming, referring to a decision of the BC. The mentioned BC measure on which A1TV is referring to was adopted during a pre-election period due to a breach of the Broadcasting Law in the part of in the advertising quotas.

According to the legal sanctioning measures, BC ordered A1TV one day to not broadcast advertisements and teleshopping; that’s why BC considers today’s abortion of the program is voluntary move of this television and it is an open provocation. The BC has adopted decisions like this one to other broadcasters too.

In regard to the paid political advertizing that was in the focus of the citizens lately, BC reminded and warned all broadcasters to strictly respect the provisions in the Broadcasting Law and the by-law acts and to not allow showing of minors or any other form of jeopardizing of the human dignity in the political advertizing.
In the following period BC will take all the legal measures on disposal, for sanctioning every violation of the Broadcasting Law.
