Two days left for paid political advertising

Skopje, 25.02.2016 – Based on the latest amendments to the Electoral Code adopted by the Parliament of the Republic of Macedonia, the ban on broadcasting paid political advertising by broadcasters, print media and electronic media (Internet portals), has been moved to commence on 27 February 2016.

Considering that the Law on Amending the Electoral Code came into force on the day of its publication in the „Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia, No. 35, dated 24 February 2016, paid political advertising can be broadcast until 24:00 hrs on 26 February 2016.

The Agency expects that the broadcasting of paid political advertisements, if any, will be in line with the advertising standards laid down in the Law on Audio and Audiovisual Media Services and that special care will be taken so that it does not promote discrimination, intolerance or hatred on any grounds whatsoever.
