Bilateral Meeting between the regulatory authorities of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Macedonia in Sofia

Skopje, 15.09.2016 – A delegation of the Agency for Audio and Audiovisual Media Services is paying an official visit to the Council for Electronic Media of the Republic of Bulgaria (CEM) from 14 until 17 September 2016. The visit is aimed at sharing mutual experiences in a number of areas, including monitoring during electoral cycles, and at exchanging views about the reality show programmes, protection of juvenile audience, advertising, etc.

The Agency representatives also had a meeting today with the Parliamentary Committee on Media and Culture in the Parliament of the Republic of Bulgaria. The MPs had an opportunity to hear about the legal provisions and the process of issuing licenses to the broadcasters in the Republic of Macedonia.

During this stay, in the Council for Electronic Media of the Republic of Bulgaria, representatives of the Agency will hold a workshop on the specific features and the practical implementation of monitoring media coverage during electoral processes in the Republic of Macedonia. The Bulgarian regulator also showed interest in exchanging experiences concerning the process of media digitalization and its implementation in the Republic of Macedonia.

Both sides concluded that there was room for promoting and expanding their cooperation, especially when it comes to issues of mutual interest.
