NATO Representative Lorie Walker pays working visit to the Agency for Audio and Audiovisual Media Services

Skopje, 05.10.2016 – Mr. Laurie Walker, NATO Desk Officer for the Republic of Macedonia dossier, paid a working visit to the Agency for Audio and Audiovisual Media Services today, along with NATO’s MAP team at the expert level.

The visit was focused on assessing the status of implementation of the activities and goals presented in the 2015-2016 Annual National Programme of the Republic of Macedonia for NATO Membership.

At the meeting, the key issues of interest raised by Mr. Walker, in addition to the Agency’s operational activities, were as on the electoral legislation concerning these 100 days, i.e. the role of the Ad Hoc Committee for Observing Media Coverage, the relation between the Agency Council and the Ad Hoc Committee, the manner of making decisions on the part of the Ad Hoc Committee, as well as the reasons for which certain media have been warned based on the ten-day monitoring reports.

In addition to the replies to all posed questions, the Agency representatives explained in detail the process of monitoring election-related coverage by the radio and television programming services, conducted by the Agency.
