“Political Advertising: A Comparative Study with Reflections on the Situation in the Countries of Southeast Europe” Published

Skopje, 23 December 2020 – Under the Council of Europe and the European Union’s joint programme, on the “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019-2022”, and its regional action on “Freedom of Expression and Freedom of the Media in South-East Europe (JUFREX)”, the two institutions published a study titled “Political Advertising: A Comparative Study with reflections on the Situation in Southeast European Countries”.

The study, the preparation of which involved the Agency for Audio and Audiovisual Media Services and the regulatory bodies which as JUFREX beneficiaries, addresses political advertising during election campaigns from the media regulators’ perspective and provides guidance in line with European standards and best practices in this field.

The preparation of the study was a follow-up activity of the regional online round table titled “Elections, Pandemic and Disinformation”, held on 3 July this year, where the region’s regulatory bodies shared their experiences.
