December 6, 2013 BC held a workshop on capacity building of media professionals about issues of gender equality

The Broadcasting Council of the Republic of Macedonia today (6 December 2013) held a workshop on capacity building of media professionals about issues of gender equality.

The participants were welcomed by the President of the Council, PhD Zoran Trajchevski and the training was conducted by the Lecturer PhD Victoria Borovska, from the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities – Skopje. In her presentation, she depicted the situation of the treatment of gender issues and the presentation of women and men on televisions in the Republic of Macedonia, obtained by analysis of gender issues in the media that the Institute prepared for the Council in 2013 and 2012. These findings were put into a broader context through the historical overview of the emergence of gender inequality, as well as a review of the current situation in Europe and the world presented in the publication of the Council of Europe “Women and journalists first: The challenge for media professionals to achieve democracy in practice , quality journalism and stop gender stereotyping. “

This workshop was conducted as part of the Broadcasting Council’s activities to fulfil the obligations under the National Strategy on Gender Equality 2013-2020.
