SKOPJE, 26.11.2010 – On today’s session, the members of the Broadcasting Council (BC) expressed their concern over the recent events in the National Television A1. The BC requested information from the institutions which made the inspection in the premises of TV A1 and also from the television itself; this will help BC in building a full image of the situation and take a relevant position.
BC urged the institutions of the system to provide smooth completion of journalists’ professional tasks, to guarantee the freedom of informing and movement of the journalists and to create conditions for smooth functioning of the media.
BC also urged the media and their owners to provide unimpeded access to all relevant institutions to all information on their scope of work, reminding the media that they are also legal entities as well as the other companies and must adhere to the laws of Republic of Macedonia.
As a regulatory authority for electronic media BC called all political parties not to create tension in the media for gaining political points.
The BC continues to closely monitor the development and the process of resolution of this situation.
