Skopje, 15.05.2015 – In the context of reporting on the current developments in the state, the Agency for Audio and Audiovisual Media Services reminds the media that they should be playing their role – to inform the public – by respecting the professional journalist principles and standards.
In this, it is particularly important that the media allow the public to freely form their opinions by providing comprehensive, unbiased and impartial information and presenting the developments while ensuring equal treatment for diverse views and opinions. Whenever possible, the information should be verified and the source stated. If the information cannot be verified or the source seeks to remain unidentified, this should be stated clearly.
The media should be extremely cautious when conveying statements that contain insults, slander or intolerance, so as not to be misused for inciting violence or discrimination on any grounds whatsoever.
