Skopje, 26 January 2026 – With the amendments to media legislation in July 2023, the Agency for Audio and Audiovisual Media Services (AVMU) for the first time, officially recognised the existence and influence of influencers, vloggers, content creators, and YouTubers—natural persons providing on-demand audiovisual media services.
These individuals are now subject to regulation and are required to register with the Agency for Audio and Audiovisual Media Services
The registration obligation applies to influencers, vloggers, content creators, YouTubers, and similar providers of on-demand audiovisual media services, who meet the following criteria:
- they provide audiovisual media services via video-sharing platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, or TikTok, etc.;
- they have more than 10,000 followers or subscribers;
- they derive economic benefit from their media activity;
- they have published at least 24 audiovisual works in the past 12 months, and
- their content aims to inform, educate, or entertain, with the creator bearing editorial responsibility.
Further details on the criteria are set out in the Agency’s Rulebook, which outlines the registration process and the required information for inclusion in the Register of On-Demand Audiovisual Media Service Providers.
Considering that this constitutes a legal obligation, the AAVMS urges all eligible influencers, vloggers, content creators, and YouTubers who meet the indicated criteria, to submit their registration applications at their earliest convenience.
All relevant documents related to their operations and guidance concerning the obligations of these entities are available on the Agency’s website at www.avmu.mk, under the banner “Influencers/Vloggers”.
