Skopje, 08.05.2015 – With the aim of carrying out the programme for implementation of the IPA Project titled “Enhancing the Administrative Capacities of Telecom and Media Authorities for Efficient Regulation of New Digital and Multiple Play Services”, the Agency for Audio and Audiovisual Media Services realized – along with representatives of the on-demand service provider – a workshop on European works and works by independent producers.
The workshop was focused on implementing the obligation of the on-demand service provider to meet the quotas concerning European works. In his capacity as the presenter of the workshop, Mr. Marc Janssen, IPA TAIB 2009 senior expert, spoke about the manner and models of implementation, representation and positioning of the European works, stressing the importance of seeking appropriate instruments and procedures to stimulate activity and the development of the European Audiovisual production and distribution.
Among other things, it was stressed that, in line with the legal provisions, the on-demand audiovisual media service providers should promote, whenever possible and by appropriate means, production and access to European works. Such promotion may refer to financial contribution to producing and gaining rights for European works or the representation and positioning of the European works in a catalogue of programmes.
