04.11.2015 – Under the motto “Speak Up!”, the European Commission is hosting, in Brussels today, the 3rd Conference on Freedom of Expression and Media in the Western Balkans and Turkey. Attending the Conference as representatives of the Agency for Audio and Audiovisual Media Services are the Agency Director, Mr. Zoran Trajcevski, Ph. D., and the Head of the Agency’s International Cooperation Unit, Ms Irena Bojadjievska, Ph.D.
As indicated by the EC itself, the two previous editions of the “Speak Up!” Conference, organized by the DG Enlargement, produced valuable conclusions that have become an important reference points for formulating policies, assistance approaches and tackling various issues in this sphere.
A large number of civil society, media representatives and journalists, including some from the Republic of Macedonia, will be discussing, along with representatives of the European Union and the Council of Europe, and presenting the situation concerning the media in the countries of the Western Balkans and Turkey.
The topics that are in the focus of this edition of the Conference tackle the “new media” in the context of democracy and critical thinking, media literacy, journalist professional and ethical standards, journalists’ labor conditions, etc.
