Skopje, 23.05.2017 – The Agency for Audio and Audiovisual Media Services conducted, ex officio, an ad hoc programme supervision over the work of TRD ALFA TV DOOEL Skopje, regarding the newscast aired on 15 May 2017, at 17:30 and 23:00 hrs, respectively.
The supervision found that, contrary to Article 48 of the LAAVMS (Law on Audio and Audiovisual Media Services, Specific Prohibitions), by airing the news item titled “Roma harass citizens at nearly every crossroads – is there a strategy for dealing with this problem?” in its News on 15 May 2017, at 17:30 and 23:00 hrs, respectively, the programming service of the TRD ALFA TV DOOEL Skopje incites and spreads discrimination against the Roma on the grounds of ethnicity and belonging to a marginalized group.
