Skopje, 17 May 2019 – The Media Literacy Network held a meeting today, at which the participants discussed the members’ activities to date, the ongoing projects and the Network’s future, as well as the possibility of organizing joint events and activities.
At the meeting, the representatives of the Macedonian Institute for Media, the Metamorphosis Foundation and the Youth Education Forum dwelled on their ongoing activities aimed at re-granting civil society organizations, which they have been carrying out as part of the projects financed by the European Union. The Agency presented the paper “Media Literacy Policy” and dwelled on the four components that it will be working on in the forthcoming period.
One of the main topics for discussion was the need to structure the Network in a way that would enable greater dynamics of the interactions, at the same time maintaining the principles of democracy and equality, which it abides by. For this purpose, the MIM presented the “Recommendations for Integrating the Media Literacy Concept in Various Social Spheres”, created as a result of the experiences of the regulatory body’s study visit to Ireland and the Irish Media Literacy Network. In this context, the issue was raised about the need for additional structuring of the Network and establishing separate groups that would contribute to better coordination and cooperation among the members that work on specific aspects of media literacy.
The present representatives of the Network members also discussed joint organization of future events and activities.
