Skopje, 25 January 2024 – The Agency for Audio and Audiovisual Media Services most strongly condemns yesterday’s incident in the Municipality of Chashka, in which the TV crew of Alsat-M TV was prevented from filming the protest against the introduction of an Albanian-language class in local the primary school, as well as from entering the Municipality building.
Journalists and media outlets must be provided free and unhindered access to all events, bearing in mind their crucial role in reporting on matters of public interest and in ensuring transparency and accountability.
As always, the Agency hereby reminds that any obstruction of the media’s work represents a direct threat to the freedom and the right to information.
