An on-demand video (or, as identified in the law, an on-demand audiovisual media service) is a service that enables the users to choose themselves what programmes they would like to watch and at what time. The programmes are selected from a previously prepared catalogue of programmes.
This service may be offered only upon a previously issued certificate on the Agency’s part. Currently, there are four registered entities in the Register of Providers of On-Demand Audiovisual Media Services.
The Agency conducts supervision over the fulfillment of obligations relating to cinematographic works (which must not be aired or transmitted beyond the period defined in the contracts concluded with the rights’ holders); minors’ protection, and promotion of and access to the European works (the share of European works in the catalogues should be at least 30% and these should be positioned in the catalogue in a way that makes them adequately visible).
