Skopje, 3 October 2013. The Broadcasting Council was visited by the Ambassador Gert Heinrich Ahrens, Head of the Mission of OSCE/ ODIHR in charge of observation of the local elections in 2013 and Tamara Otiashvili , Elections Advisor.
The purpose of the visit was to discuss the findings and recommendations presented in the Final Report of the Election Observation Mission of OSCE/ODIHR on the local elections held in the Republic of Macedonia this year, the steps that may be taken to harmonise the election legislation with the OSCE commitments and the forms of cooperation in order to implement the recommendations of OSCE/ODIHR.
More specifically, it was discussed about the appointment of members of the Broadcasting Council and ensuring their professionalism and impartiality, specifying the conditions for broadcasting free political representation, specifying the provisions for media presentation in the second round of elections and donations to election campaigns.
The Deputy President of the Broadcasting Council, PhD Milaim Fetai and the member of the Broadcasting Council, Lazo Petrushevski, pointed out that all the recommendations included in the Final Report of OSCE/ODIHR were implemented by the Broadcasting Council in the proposals for amending the election legislation, submitted within the Working group on amendments to the Election Code.
