Kosovo’s Independent Media Commission visits the Agency

Skopje, 16.02.2016 – The Agency for Audio and Audiovisual Media Services hosted today a working meeting with representatives of the Independent Media Commission of the Republic of Kosovo. The goal of the visit was to enhance mutual relations and exchange experiences in the sphere of media digitalization.The working visit was focused on sharing experiences concerning the process of media digitalization and its implementation in the Republic of Macedonia. The Agency Director, Mr. Zoran Trajchevski, presented the model and process of digitalization in the Republic of Macedonia. In this, he reminded that digitalization was aimed at ensuring a free digital signal from all domestic televisions to the end users, i.e. the citizens, and that the entire process should be implemented in accordance with the Law.

The Chairman of the Independent Media Commission of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Adnan Merovci, highlighted the competences that the new Law on Digitalization in the Republic of Kosovo imposed on them as obligations, particularly with regard to selecting an operator that would enable reception and transfer of programmes via digital terrestrial multiplex, establishing the number of frequencies, the network and the infrastructure, and showed interest in issues related to the overall process of digitalization. Shared at the meeting were several recommendations on how to conduct digitalization in the Republic of Kosovo.

Both sides concluded that there was room for promoting and expanding cooperation, particularly when it comes to issues of mutual interest, and announced, in this respect, signing of a memorandum of understanding.
