Skopje, 12 August 2022 – With regard to the conduct of the police officers from Negotino Police Station towards “Focus” journalist Viki Klincharova because of an article she had had published, the Agency for Audio and Audiovisual Media Services wises to point out that such actions exert pressure on the media and have negative effect on the freedom of public information.
At no point should it be forgotten that media’s role is to inform, which is why they should be encouraged to carry out their duties thoroughly and professionally, and not to be intimidated.
We also wish to remind that anyone who believes that a certain media outlet has harmed them by publishing incomplete, unverified or incorrect information, has the right to seek from that particular media outlet to publish a refutation, a reply and a correction, or to submit their complaint to the media self-regulatory bodies.
