Skopje 29 August 2023. A publication has been prepared as part of the joint project of the European Union and the Council of Europe on the “Protection of Freedom of Expression and Freedom of the Media in North Macedonia” (PRO-FREX), titled “Assessment: Economic Vitality and Sustainability of the Audiovisual media industry in the digital environment – North Macedonia”.
The document, which is available in the Macedonian and the English languages, was produced at the request of the Agency for Audiovisual Media Services. It focuses on the vitality and sustainability of the media sector and delves into the challenges from a global perspective.
According to the Assessment, the potential of the audiovisual industries has not yet been recognized by the various state institutions and the already existing general measures for promoting entrepreneurship are not applied to the audiovisual media sector at all. The Assessment identifies the measures that are key to supporting and promoting the production of domestic audiovisual content, such as the fiscal measures, professional and institutional networking, direct funding, support to the education, training and professional development, etc.
